Matthias Krey is Managing Director at Perspectives and responsible for sustainable business development activities both for the public and private sectors. He holds a Master’s degree in industrial engineering and management and works on climate policy since 2001.
Matthias became CEO of Perspectives in 2008, which he helped grow into one of the leading advisory firms in international climate policy and carbon markets. During his time at Perspectives, he has managed foundations of new companies, M&As, and MBOs.
From 2013 – 2017 he worked part-time as a freelance consultant for small businesses and startups with a focus on sustainable technologies. Matthias has founded two start-ups in the field of biological pest control for the agricultural sector and life-feed organisms for aquaculture. Throughout his career, Matthias has gained considerable practical knowledge on financing sustainable technology business models and policy frameworks as enablers for those models. He has vast experience as a project manager and director in the field of carbon crediting, GHG inventory/accounting, and climate target setting as well as a large network in the climate business. He participates as an expert in the Consultative Group of the Taskforce on Scaling Voluntary Carbon Markets (TSVCM), as a member of the working group on credit level integrity. Since 2021, Matthias is Secretary-General of the CCS+ Initiative of which Perspectives is a founding partner.
