Molly James holds an MSc in Environmental Change and Management from the University of Oxford and a BA in Natural Sciences from the University of Birmingham. She is currently a part-time research associate at Cardiff University, analysing the deployment of enhanced rock weathering in the UK. In her master’s thesis she used qualitative methods to analyse expert and public sociotechnical imaginaries of direct air capture (DAC). Before joining Perspectives, she worked at Oxford Net Zero and the Oxford Martin School.
As a social scientist who works on the social dimensions of carbon dioxide removal (CDR), Molly focuses on aspects including public perceptions, policy design, and how to include a variety of stakeholder groups in processes.
Molly has worked across the public, private and third sector on net zero and the just transition. Between 2022-2025 she was an independent consultant carrying out community and stakeholder engagement on DAC projects across the UK, US, and Canada. At Perspectives, Molly is involved in numerous projects across carbon dioxide removal, carbon capture and storage, solar radiation modification, and carbon markets.
