On March 4-5, Perspectives’ Senior Founding Partner Axel Michaelowa participated in this year’s edition of the conference Carbon Forward Asia in Singapore, where experts from the Asia-Pacific region gathered to discuss ASEAN engagement in carbon markets, nature-based solutions, international emissions trading and environmental market risks and opportunities on a regional and global scale.

During the event, Axel shared insights on how the Baku decisions on Article 6.4 position the Paris Agreement Crediting Mechanism as a high-quality benchmark for international carbon markets. He also contributed to discussions on the evolving policy landscape, emphasizing the importance of more stringent integrity measures in global carbon markets given the successive failure oif the Clean Development Mechanism and the voluntary carbon market.

Axel’s expertise on this matter was featured in a recent issue of Carbon Pulse, where he was quoted on key risks and prospects in the Article 6.4 framework. His remarks underscored the critical role of investment analysis, additionality requirements, and market structures in shaping the future of high-integrity carbon markets.
