Perspectives
Climate Research
Perspectives Climate Research, based in Freiburg/Germany, is an independent, internationally active, and highly qualified not-for-profit research think-tank.
Perspectives carries out research for governments, international organisations, non-governmental organisations and the private sector while maintaining high standards of methodological and ecological integrity. Recent collaborations include research projects funded by the German Ministry for Research and Education (BMBF), the EU HORIZON programme, and the philanthropy Carbon Gap.
Research Topics
The research topics (***suggest to establish link to Climate Policy Research – Perspectives Climate Group here***) cover the whole range of Perspectives´ work. We boast in-depth experience with successful baseline and monitoring methodology development under the Kyoto Mechanism’s CDM and JI, NAMAs, NDC establishment and updating, and climate finance. We have developed several studies on the transition of existing market-based mechanisms into Article 6 by assessing potential pathways of transition and implications for specific countries.
Scientific Processes
In addition to publishing their work, our staff is active in scientific processes by:
- Contributing to conferences with side-events, posters and presentations, e.g. at the recent International Conference on Negative CO2-Emissions 2024 (***suggest to add picture from conference***);
- Acting as peer reviewers, guest editors, e.g. for a forthcoming special issue in Climate Policy co-edited by Dr. Axel Michaelowa and Dr. Malte Winkler);
- Co-organising article collections, e.g. a collection on Blue Carbon in Carbon Management (***link: Towards the Integration of Blue Carbon into Global Greenhouse Gas Mitigation Action (taylorandfrancis.com)***)
We are actively engaged in research, evaluation and consultancy projects in numerous sectors, including energy, waste, transport, industry, LULUCF and forestry.
