Dario Brescia holds an MSc in Environmental Economics and a graduate degree in business administration. In 2005, he moved to China to complete his MSc and then joined the office of the Italian Ministry for Environment (Sino-Italian Cooperation Program) in Shanghai. He managed bilateral cooperation projects, with a focus on climate change and carbon markets, while participating in the international negotiation at the UNFCCC level as a member of the Italian delegation. Later on, he moved to a project developer/carbon consultancy company based in Beijing and in 2010 he took the role of Principal Manager and Technical Reviewer at Enecore Carbon. He was responsible for the development and management of CDM projects at all stages in China and Vietnam designing and delivering carbon services for clients (mainly European utilities and investment banks) and management and supervision of the technical teams.
Dario is a senior project manager and has over 15 years of experience with carbon credit generation and climate finance.
Since 2015, Dario has worked as a senior consultant at Perspectives, delivering services to private and public sector clients on the development of new carbon methodologies, development and evaluation of carbon projects and programs, design of sectoral mitigation strategies, development of the NDCs and their implementation plans, and design and implementation of carbon pricing mechanisms. He also works on the development of market mechanisms and Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, including the assessment of pilot activities and the operationalisation of key conceptual elements. He is supporting private-sector clients in the quantification of mitigation impacts and the definition of monetisation strategies of carbon assets in multiple sectors while ensuring environmental integrity. Dario has supported several public and private entities in engaging with main international donors to access financial support. He has worked from different perspectives on renewable energies, e-mobility, energy efficiency, cooling technologies, methodology development, and carbon pricing instruments.
He has working experience in multiple countries (i.e. in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America) and speaks fluent Italian, English, and Spanish. He is currently based in Milan.
