Sven Feige holds degrees in environmental protection and industrial engineering, as well as a master’s degree in environmental sciences. He worked as a project engineer for a German manufacturer of technical gas utilisation from 2001 to 2003, where he was responsible for the design of combined heat and power systems.
Since 2003, Sven has been working on various climate policy instruments and carbon market mechanisms and built outstanding expertise related to methodological and technical questions, as well as on project finance. He has worked on climate protection projects in various sectors, including renewable energy, energy conservation, and the waste sector (e.g. waste to energy, biomass, biogas, and wind power). He is also supporting companies and public entities in assessing the climate impact of their investments.
Sven is Perspectives' senior expert for technology assessment, carbon methodology development, additionality tests and climate impact studies.
Additionally, Sven has been involved in developing standardised baselines for various African countries, including Ethiopia. Moreover, he provides technical support to various initiatives, for example by conducting Mitigation Plausibility Checks of mitigation figures. Sven has outstanding experience in developing statistical frameworks for assessing mitigation effects at the project and aggregated levels. He incorporates this conceptual understanding with extensive experience piloting and implementing GHG emission monitoring, reporting, and communication in a variety of country contexts. Sven has longstanding experience in providing advisory services for German and international ministries and international organisations such as UNFCCC, UNDP, UNEP, World Bank, and other multilateral development agencies and banks. He analyses and prepares complex technical and political documents and information accessible to a range of target audiences, including high-level decision-makers and technical experts.
