Main project features:

The main objective of the project was to further support and advance GIZ’s monitoring and reporting system for direct and indirect climate impacts. As a contractor of the German Federal Government, GIZ implements a wide range of development cooperation projects in the field of climate change and climate protection. Climate-relevant impacts must be recorded and reported to the various clients (BMZ, DöAG, EU) in aggregated and standardised form. The project team assisted the client in the further development of the existing approach and tools for climate impact monitoring, including supporting in the introduction of standard indicators, sector specific tools, accompanying handbooks and guidance as well as piloting of newly developed approaches.

Project Overview

The specific tasks Perspectives carried out were:● Supported the development of a system to record unintended negative climate impacts on project level (carbon footprint)in the context of the GIZ internal safeguards + gender management system.● Development of the recording, monitoring andreporting of climate impacts at the project level in the field of climate protection(mitigation) and adaptation to climate change for different clients (BMZ, DöAG,EU)● Accompanied enterprise-wide recording andplausibility check of climate impacts in the context of the newly introducedstandard indicators for climate● Supported the anchoring of climate-relevant topics in other relevantrelevant sectors (climate mainstreaming)
