This research project was set out how export finance and UKEF specifically can align with the 2015 Paris Agreement, as well as support a range of inter-related post-Covid recoveryissues, such as re-shoring, resilience, levelling-up, and nature
Project Overview
PCR’s approach to writing the report consisted of four steps:- First, desk research was conducted to summarise the role of ECA in the low-carbon transition and the strategic position of the UK in the export finance system.- Second, two semi-structured interviews with relevant stakeholders (e.g. representatives of UKEF and/or NGOs, TBD together with Bright Blue) in the UK were conducted in order to corroborate the findings from desk research and collect additional information that may not necessarily be publicly available.- Third, after the necessary information was collected, the team applied our Paris alignment methodology to assign progress labels across different dimensions and identify the main gaps and avenues for further reform in the UK.- Finally, the results of the study were presented at a dedicated round-table event.
