The AfDB was seeking to undertake a market study that should enable to firstly raise awareness of stakeholders on the Adaptation Benefit Mechanism (ABM) as a means of contributing towards the adaptation goal of the Paris Agreement and / or fulfilling CSR or philanthropic mandates, and secondly to assess the demand for Adaptation Benefits (ABs) amongst stakeholders and particularly potential ABM off-takers.The objectives were to: 1) identify and understand key stakeholders’ perception of the ABM concept and the way to implement it, 2) derive recommendations on how to integrate stakeholders’ feedback in the ABM design, and 3) define a roadmap for the implementation of the mechanism with a dedicated action plan.
Project Overview
Perspectives was engaged in the following tasks: ● Preparation of an online questionnaire sent to more than 300 contact points;● Mapping of relevant stakeholders and set up of a database of more than 300 contact points from climate finance institutions, CSR actors and private companies, philanthropic bodies, developing countries’ authorities, negotiation groups and civil society organizations;● Preparation of a questionnaire for 15 qualitative bilateral interviews● Execution of the qualitative interviews with relevant stakeholders.● Preparation of reports with findings and recommendations.● Organization of a webinar.
