This study provides the basis for potential recommendations regarding Sweden’s evolving voluntary carbon market (2025–2026), providing guidance for Swedish actors who want to engage in the VCM as buyers or sellers. It covers the key terms and guidance on generating and using carbon credits and making related claims, the role of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, relevant EU and national legislation and initiatives, and risk management relevant for the VCM. Key guidance includes, inter alia, ICVCM, SBTi, ISO, VCMI, and PACM, as well as EU work on CRCF, green claims, and corporate sustainability reporting. Commissioned by the Swedish Energy Agency, the study is published with a complementary slide deck.
