Main project features:
The programme comprised activities supporting a holistic approach to accelerate the Moroccan market in a transition toward efficient, climate-friendly, low-GWP domestic refrigerators, unitary A/Cs and A/C chillers. The program was designed to enhance the existing regulatory framework for appliance efficiency and support the market monitoring and enforcement framework for cooling appliances. In parallel with enhancing efficiency, the program supported the preparation of HFC refrigerant phase-down to further reduce the cooling sector’s climate impacts by replacing environmentally harmful equipment and leapfrogging directly to energy efficient and climate-friendly technologies.
Project Overview
Perspectives was responsible for the following components: 1) Development of mitigation scenarios to provide preliminary phase-down mechanisms for HFC refrigerants and assistance in formulating policies for the HFC phase-down beyond the actions defined through the Kigali Amendment; 2) Identification of further funding for the implementation for enabling actions with payback periods longer than common practice, including the design of a blended finance approach covering Article 6 mechanisms.
