Main project features:

The project’s main goal was to support GSF’s Article 6 Early Movers Programm by demonstrating proof-of-concept of the application of Article 6.2 and to generate knowledge and information to support Article 6 application by other actors. 2-4 suitable project developers where identified following predefined criteria and subsequently supported in acquiring Article 6 authorisation from their respective host governments. A report on experiences and best-practices was created to guide and inform future engagement between project developers and host country authorities with the goal of Article 6 autorisation.

Project Overview

Perspective was the main implementing partner for the project, working in close ccordination with GSF, the activity developers selected during phase 1 of the project, and respective national authorities. The specific tasks carried out by Perspectives were:- Development of criteria for the selection of activity developers suitable for early Article 6 authorization (based on, among others, experience of activity developer, proposed mitigation activity, Article 6 compatability, mitigation potential, host country interest and readiness for Article 6 cooperation, sustainable development co-benefits)- Outreach, multi-criteria assessment and selection of activity developers and specific activites in cooperation with GSF- Provision of technical expertise and advice to activity developers during engagement with national authorities regarding Article 6 authorisation (identification and summary of Article 6 rules and requirements, review of activity design, identification of relevant host-country authorities, facilitation of engagement between activity developer and authorities)- Drafting a final public report detailing experiences made with regards to Article 6 authorization, best-practices, and models used for the benefit of other actors seeking Article 6 authorization
