Contribution to ABM methodology and literature review on existing adaptation metrics
Delivered for The African Development Bank Group (AfDB).
The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) is supporting the development of the Adaptation Benefit Mechanism (ABM) as a non-market approach under Article 6.8 of the Paris Agreement. In March 2019, the Bank launched the pilot phase of the ABM with the goal of delivering a working mechanism to the Parties in the 2023 stocktake. As part of the pilot phase, and in its capacity as Secretariat to the ABM, the Climate and Environmental Financial Devision has convened an interim Executive Committee (EC), acting as an independent expert body, to operationalize the ABM. Axel Michaelowa serves as EC member and has been tasked with drafting a literature study as well as methodology-related documents necessary to operationalize the ABM.
