How to support actors in Least Developed Countries accessing climate finance to accelerate rural cooling solutions

Perspectives Climate Research2024

Access to sustainable cooling is vital for health, food security, and economic development in Least Developed Countries (LDCs). However, financial and technical barriers often hinder its widespread adoption, particularly in rural communities where securing funding for energy-efficient, climate-friendly cooling solutions remains a challenge. Co-authored by Marc André Marr, Ashwin Tomy, Alicia Schmid, Ikram Douba, and Stephan Hoch, this guidebook was developed through the Establishing Access to Sustainable Cold Chains in Ethiopia project, funded by the Clean Cooling Collaborative. It serves as a resource for project developers, policymakers, and financial institutions, offering guidance on navigating climate finance opportunities. By addressing funding gaps, the guide aims to accelerate the expansion of sustainable cooling solutions, enhancing resilience and promoting equitable access in vulnerable regions.
