This framework agreement aimed to deliver a series of assignments that support the Swedish Energy Agency (SEA) in developing its contributions to the Article 6 negotiations and to prepare for the pilot implementation of new market mechanisms in light of the emerging international guidance, modalities and procedures.
Project Overview
The assignments provided analytical support that consider the operationalization of central elements to ensure the ambition and environmental integrity of the Article 6 mechanisms, including the avoidance of double counting, additionality and solid MRV frameworks, including methodology development for key priority sectors as required. Moreover, interrelated issues with other key areas of the climate negotiations, in particular regarding the transparency framework, global stock take and the overall ambition of global targets. Finally, the assignment identified and evaluated opportunities for engaging SEA, possible partner countries, and the private sector in scaling up blended climate finance, including through business and financing models for specific measures.
